I can’t believe it’s AUGUST. It’s also National Coffee Month, so I still have time to indulge in my new summer drink Coffee Lemonade.
You say, Lianne, have you LOST YOUR MIND? Coffee and Lemonade…TOGETHER? Nope. Let me tell you why…it’s refreshing, it tastes AMAZING and it’s super easy to make.
Now, let me preface all of this by saying – I am NOT a coffee drinker. I’m not the kind of person that gets up in the morning and fires up the coffee machine in search of that coffee fix. Even when I do go to Starbucks, I get a tall…the smallest size of all. I used to love the coffee drinks (which have little or no coffee in them or the frappucinos (basically a 1000 calorie coffee milkshake with very little coffee whatsoever, disguised as some kind of coffee option). I stopped drinking those years ago. Except for the holidaze….I do love a good egg nog or gingerbread latte (I still get the tall). All of that being said, this new trend of coffee hybrid drinks is quickly changing my mind.
These drinks are lighter, fresher and easier to make than you think. Coffee Lemonade is aptly named the Thunderbolt and it originated in Sweden. When I traveled in France, espresso was always served with lemon or a lemon twist – so this makes sense. The lemon compliments the coffee beautifully. [Read more…]
